Q: is there a way to set default config selection mode?

Issue description or question

One of the repo I use the last option to choose the closest config in most cases. Is there's a setting to set it as the default when start / smart start or exclusive test runs?

As you've no doubt worked out, when you use Automatic Configuration <closest project in mono-repo>, we determine your project for this specific action. We then remember the project for subsequent actions.

We don't currently have a mechanism to do this automatically on every start.

We have plans to improve mono-repo support in the next 3-6+ months and this behavior is something we have specifically discussed as an area of improvement. Tomorrow we'll evaluate options to address this in the short term while not impacting our longer term plans.

I'm not sure I like the naming, but I'd imagine separating closest project in mono-repo into two actions would meet your needs? For example:

• Automatic Configuration <closest project in mono-repo> (remember project)
• Automatic Configuration <closest project in mono-repo> (on every start)

Thanks for the answer, helpful context. For me personally suggested option would work; but if I were to design I'd consider it as a separate option for general start behavior - currently there are couple of start options (start / exclusive test start, ...) and which scope of config to start probably affects all of those. Still, personal take though.
