Problem creating a host profile for connecting to Google VM

Hello,
I am new to VisIt. I am trying to run simulations on google VM, and visualize the results locally. I have installed VisIt on both google VM (Ubuntu 20) and my local machine (MacBook). I am having trouble creating a host profile and opening file from a remote connection. I can ssh into the google VM using the terminal.

Here's what I have done so far:

1. Install VisIt remotely (on google VM, Ubuntu 20)
2. Install VisIt locally (mac Sonoma)
3. On my local VisIt, I navigate to Options -> Host Profiles
4. Under Remote host name, I enter the google VM external IP address
5. I set the Host nickname to something convenient (e.g., my_vm)
6. Path to VisIt installation is /usr/local/visit (this is the VisIt directory on remote machine)
7. I checked "Tunnel data connections through SSH" following an earlier discussion

Can anyone provide any general insights on how to use VisIt remotely on google VM? I apologize if this has been addressed already but I couldn't find a relevant discussion or documentation that could provide all the steps!
