What are your default 'Window' settings?
These settings work for me (version 21.0.24)

This is with an 'xterm -ls' command when I launch on the remote.

Do you happen to have this env var set ? LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT, if yes , is it set to 1 or 0? Try the opposite.

Thanks for the update, another user had this exact set of issues. We we will see if updating X-win32 helps.

Do you have the option of running client-server instead of through an XServer? Or do you have the option to try a different XServer (perhaps update XWin)? Or connect instead via NoMachine or VNC?

I admit, however, that I am getting some unexpected behaviors. I am using Xwin to open a window on the LC machines, and firing up visit there. Both the line-out plot and the magnifying glass are very touchy. Before I finish the line (or the box) I get a black out on the screen and nothing happens. (at least sometimes). You can use xrandr to see the resolution options for VNC, and xrandr -s 1920x1080 to change resolution. I have no trouble running VisIt with most of the standard resolutions.
