Feature Request: Support for long running events

Love the plugin. Thanks a lot for writing it!

I have no idea if anyone else would need this, but for me it would be awesome if the notification center included support for long running events. That is, show a small animation while something is running, then change its icon to something else (static success/fail icon) when it has completed.

One other notification system I can think of that supports this is the Azure cloud web interface. Here are a couple of pictures that show what I mean.

Do you think such a thing would be possible in this plugin?
