There is a dependency on the GitHub CLI. Is it possible to use this without GitHub but with a different Git based system?

The dependency on gh is for pushing changes to github only. However, you need to be in a git repository (ie. have a valid .git directory) to create workers. What git-based system are you using?

We use gh because it guarantees that the git push command is authenticated. It should be pretty easy to swap out gh for git or another VCS.

With the extended introduction of agents in Claude Code, I don't have a use anymore for Claude squad. On top of that, with some Claude generated scripts Claude can handle worktrees very well itself.
