Date Range Field - Format "yyyy-mm-dd" is not supported

When entering the date in "yyyy-mm-dd" format on a Date Range field it is NOT correctly formatted to "dd-mmm-yyyy".

However, if I enter the date in "yyyy-mm-dd" format on a Date Field it is correctly formatted to "dd-mmm-yyyy" as expected.
