Shareable "all photos" album

It's difficult to keep all my photos shared with my partner. Presently I have to manually add photos to a shared album

A clear and concise description of what you want to happen.
Similar to Google photos I would like to be able to share all photos with another nextcloud user. This could be a synthetic album called "all photos" that includes all photos in memories without the user having to update it manually.

You can achieve this by creating a group folder shared between the two and uploading all photos to that group folder. Then, add that folder to your timeline in Memories.

Note that I mean a group folder created with the group folder plugin, that I believe is installed by default, not a normal shared folder in Nextcloud. This is because if the photos are in a group folder, everyone can create their own albums using those photos (needed to create public links to share a few photos), but if it is a normal shared folder, only the owner of the folder can add those photos to albums.

Yeah, either a group folder or just share your timeline folders with the other account.

Creating new folders and manually handling photos is a workaround but it's not really a good user experience.
If I share my photo folders with another user they would have to incorporate those images into their timeline or create and then manually sync an album with those photos, which is not what I'm looking for.

The use case is essentially: as a user I would like to allow family members to view the photos on my timeline in a read-only capacity.

This is essentially just a one time thing, adding the folder share to their timeline path. All photos you add to that folder will automatically be shared after that.

You can share folders read-only. The difference with Google photos is mostly that Google doesn't have "folders", and all photos are essentially in a single folder (so you just share that folder). Nextcloud has some additional flexibility of folders so a couple more steps to add the shared folder to your timeline (e.g. not everyone might want the shared photos to show up on their timeline, so there's no one-size-fits-all solution here)

Sorry I wasn't clear on the timeline aspect. I don't want to incorporate other users photos into my timeline, I'd like to be able to view theirs and vice versa, but separate to my own. It doesn't look like I can achieve this in a way that doesn't require me to manually update an album or intermix two different users' photos in the same timeline.

My proposition to that end is to have a synthetic/pretend album that is essentially aggregating a selection of shared folders' images.

Ah this is more on the lines of "multiple timelines" then. Technically its possible but UI is a lot of work. Probably the closest to this at the moment would be to put the shared folder(s) together and use the "timeline view" after opening the outer folder in memories

Yeah pretty much. The synthetic album suggestion was intended to sit within the existing design as multiple timelines (would be amazing but) would be a significant UI change. An album view of folder X, Y, and Z would be perfectly fine and doesn't require a change in the UI (per se)
