Overlay UI components prevent automatic workspace switching on cmd-tab #1568

Description

@nikitabobko

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Visual Studio Code
  2. File -> Open Folder (that will open a file selector as a child UI component)
  3. Switch to different application in a different workspace, say Safari
  4. Try to return to the Visual Studio code using cmd + tab shortcut

Expected result:
You should be able to see visual studio code together with "Open folder" overlay

Actual result:
In the macos menu bar "app menu" indicate it switched to the Code but you still see Safari. In this particular situation you can press "Esc" to close overlay which refocuses Code. This problem exists with other overlays in different programs, but not all overlays close on ESC unfortunately. You can still return to the workspace with an app as a workaround.
