expose local MCP tools to Semantic Kernel in Backend

I've built a local MCP server which interacts with a client app directly on the users machine. In my implementation I'm not running the SemanticKernel directly on the client but in an ASP.NET API - is there a way to expose the local MCP tools to the Kernel on the backend and how would tool calling work in such a scenario?
