Using Windows Live Writen / MetaWeblog API

I can't seem to get wlw to work. When run locally, shouldn't it be able to connect to https://localhost:[SOMEPORT]/metaweblog ? WlW says the 'connecion was closed', just requesting this in the browser leads to a 404. Is there anything that needs to be done in order for the metaweblog api to work? Or should this work out of the box?

Well, having set this up again, it now works. don't know what i did wrong the first time earlier today.
