Question: weird behaviour on MacOS

I presume I am doing something silly but I can't find any old issues or pointers in the docs.

I am a long time kitty + linux user and I have been using a script which fires up a kitty terminal with vim to a scratch doc I use for notes.

The script is simple:

#!/bin/bash
d=`date`
kitty --title=nb -- nvim ~/notes.md -c ":exe \"normal i$d\<CR>$*\<CR>\""

I moved the script to a new Mac machine and I get two errors:

1. when starting the script I see: [0.182] The font FiraCode Nerd Font Mono Med was not found, falling back to Menlo
2. when I quit the vim instance the window closes but the script hangs and I have to ctrl+c to return to the terminal

If I run this w a keyboard shortcut it also opens up another kitty icon in my toolbar which I have to manually remove (or I get dozens in the toolbar with no windows attaached)

1. remote that font from kitty.conf
2. set macos_quit_when_last_window_closed
3. if you want to open new windows in an existing kitty instance use either the macos open command for kitty --single-instance

Thanks @kovidgoyal I really appreciate the help. Small question re 1. why would that font work in the 'original' kitty instance but not in the child?

I doubt its working in either, you are just seeing the error message in the latter.

its def working, the font has ligatures (which work) and the child window doesn't.

However when using --single-instance the issue resolves and I can see the correct font in teh child.
