As a user from mainland China, I operate a Samsung phone (Hong Kong firmware) paired with an OPPO watch (Chinese mainland model without GMS).
Here’s my core issue with LOOP app notifications:
✅ Scenario 1: Samsung phone with Chinese mainland firmware (no GMS) → LOOP notifications work perfectly on my OPPO watch.
❌ Scenario 2: Samsung phone with Hong Kong firmware (GMS-enabled) → LOOP notifications fail to reach my OPPO watch.
The root cause appears to be:
My Hong Kong phone likely uses FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) for notifications.
Chinese mainland devices (like my OPPO watch) lack GMS support, making them incompatible with FCM.
I’ve contacted OPPO support but haven’t received a fix. As a non-technical user, I propose:
🔹 Implement a dedicated toggle button in LOOP’s settings:
"Non-GMS Watch Notification Mode"
This would allow manually switching to a GMS-independent notification channel (similar to how mainland Chinese devices handle notifications), ensuring compatibility with regional hardware restrictions.
Disclaimer: My suggestion stems from a straightforward user perspective—I recognize this may not be the optimal technical solution, but it’s the most direct fix I can envision given my understanding. There might be better approaches only your expertise can identify.
Thank you for supporting users in GMS-restricted markets like China!
