Hi @NickCrews found my way here from openhaystack and findmy.py. I'm working on similar app for family and friends on sharing live locations over P2P network so no servers!!

For geofencing, at this stage do you manually add the area and find the geojson coords? I was thinking to using uber H3 for my project so I was thinking may be you could use it? Sorry I haven't looked into your project more!!

However, I'm also thinking of looking more into findmy.py and integrate it down the road and there will be live updates but don't know more on findmy network and how it updates

I use https://geojson.io to draw the geofence, and then copy paste geojson into the Google sheet.

I'm probably done working on this, as I mentioned in the readme this wasn't giving me the consistency I needed. I'd be really interested to hear how you solve the p2p problem though, that would be awesome to avoid as many servers as possible.

So there's Bare runtime(JS) created for making P2P apps for mobile (also desktop) to bring the Hypercore Protocol and Hyperswarm (P2P network(does rely on DHT) -> allows holepunching so no need to have servers and just pure direct connections). I have already been working on iOS and Android side to embed it and use it and does work.

However, at first I was working on iOS version only and using apple maps but when I got more feedback on maps, I started to move to privacy focused map using protomaps within P2P data structure on storing the single file(120 GB) in form of append only log, storing blocks of tiles and they would be served over the network based on x/y/z so only download the tiles that are need (All distributed efficiently where peers serve the downloaded tiles only rather than having sharded all over the network). I was asking on the consistency because I looking more into showing users air tags and idevices however for the app i'm using Hyperswarm to broadcast messages with specific peers based on ID
