chown cannot access destop not a directory, Elementary OS

Elementary OS does not allow to have files on desktop, so I ran into this problem. Any fix?
chown: cannot access '/home/<user>/Desktop/yavide.desktop': Not a directory

Can you run it from terminal? Or is there an icon available in "applications" menu (I am not sure what is the equivalent for Elementary OS)?

Other than that I would suggest that you give cxxd-vim a go because it resembles the features of yavide and I do my best to find some free time to fix issues in it and develop new features.
